Associate Pastor
Lead Campus Pastor

Church of the Apostles is seeking an Associate Pastor to be part of the pastoral leadership team at Apostles and the Lead Pastor at the Apostles Campus Church. This position involves leading the pastoral team of the Campus Church congregation (including staff, interns and volunteers), as well as overseeing ministry to youth (middle and high school students, 7-12th) for both congregations.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, train, disciple and supervise interns and volunteers who are involved in any aspect of service to the Campus Church or youth ministry as a whole—including but not limited to worship services, discipleship ministry, planning meetings, seasonal retreats, mission trips and outreach activities (including Alpha)
  • Collaborate with the church leadership to integrate the Campus Church and youth ministry students into the worship, discipleship, and other ministries and activities of the wider church and the local community
  • Attend and participate in the weekly church-wide ministry leaders’ meeting and any staff retreats
  • Convene and lead the weekly ministry team meeting for the Campus Church
  • Prepare, recommend and administer the budget for Campus Church
  • Fully embrace the culture of Church of the Apostles, including all aspects of expected communication, public and collaborative calendar, etc.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cooperate and collaborate with the Director of Children’s and Family Ministry and oversee retreats, camps activities, and Sunday school for middle and high school (7-12th) youth
  • Ensure that all programs adhere to all policies of Church of the Apostles and the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic
  • Help students to develop healthy relationships with one another, their families, and members of the community
  • Build relationships in the wider community with the goal of being known in the wider community
  • Execute any other tasks and activities requested by the rector 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong faith and relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Genuine love for and calling to ministry
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and related experience
  • Training in seminary or theological/Bible coursework is desirable
  • A minimum of 2 years of college ministry experience
  • Great passion for bringing the lost to faith, walking alongside those seeking and doubting, and helping those who believe in Christ to grow in their faith
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be personable, emotionally accessible and comfortable in the presence of others who are in pain
  • Willingness to work when needed including evenings and weekends
  • Spanish language or other foreign language competency beneficial but not required
  • Anglican or interested in becoming Anglican (all church backgrounds are welcome)
    • Theological congruency—willingness to be formed in Anglican theology
  • Strategic Thinker—ability to generate goals and action steps to reach those goals
  • Visionary Leader—ability to shepherd a group of people toward realizing a vision
  • Effective Communicator—this includes some preaching and teaching experience
  • Ability to work with and lead a cohesive team
  • Be able to articulate a personal calling to student ministry
  • Strong work ethic with professional references who can attest to this
  • Lifelong learner—needs to be able to learn on their own
  • Willingness to engage in continuing training and coaching
  • Must be able to articulate his/her ability and willingness to hear from and be directed by God

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Compensation includes salary and eligible benefits commensurate with experience
    • A portion of this salary will be raised through Partner Development in cooperation with the Greenhouse Church Planting Movement
  • Reports to and serves under the Rector/Lead Pastor
  • Position to begin Fall of 2018 (negotiable), though partner development may begin sooner
  • Compensation commensurate with education and experience
  • Must be able to legally work within the United States
