Lead Campus Pastor
Church of the Apostles is seeking an Associate Pastor to be part of the pastoral leadership team at Apostles who will work alongside our Rector in all facets of church leadership. It is the intent that the incumbent will be the successor to our current Rector, and function as a Rector Coadjutor.
For the short term, primary responsibilities of the incumbent will include the role Lead Pastor at Apostles Campus Church, our Anglican Expression of church on the campus of George Mason University and also function as Youth Pastor over our senior high school students.
Apostles Campus Church is a multi-ethnic church on the campus of George Mason University creating a grace-filled home through connection with God to raise up a new generation of leaders to serve Christ’s church.
Recruit, train, disciple and supervise interns and volunteers involved in student ministry worship services, discipleship, meetings, retreats, mission trips, and other activities
Collaborate with the church leadership to integrate the students with worship, discipleship, and other ministries and activities of the wider congregation and the local community
Attend and participate in the weekly ministry leaders meeting and any staff retreats
Prepare, recommend and administer the budget for Campus Church
Fully embrace the culture of Church of the Apostles, including all aspects of
expected communication, public and collaborative calendar etc.
Cooperate and collaborate with the Director of the Children’s and Family Ministry in the organization and follow-through of Sunday school for junior high and senior high youth, retreats, and camp activities
Ensure that all programs adhere to all Church of the Apostles and Diocesan Policies
Help students to develop healthy relationships with one another, their families, and members of the community
Build relationships in the wider community with the goal of being known in the wider community
Execute any other tasks and activities requested by the Rector
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years serving in a leadership capacity in a congregational/parish setting
Strong faith and relationship with Jesus Christ
Genuine love and calling to ministry
Ordained to Holy orders either in the Anglican Church in North America, or
be eligible for transfer into the ACNA
Training in seminary or theological/Bible coursework in accordance with
Anglican requirements for ordination to the priesthood
A minimum of 2 years of high school/college ministry experience
Great passion for bringing the lost to faith and helping the saved to grow in
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Willingness to work when needed including evenings and weekends
Spanish language or other foreign language fluency beneficial but not required
Theological congruency – conformed to the ACNA
Ability to work with and lead a cohesive team
Ability to articulate a calling to student ministry
Strong Work Ethic with references to provide background proof
Willingness to engage in continuing training and coaching
Must be able to articulate his/her ability and willingness to hear from and be
directed by God
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Compensation includes salary and eligible benefits commensurate with education and experience
Reports to and serves as designated by the Rector and the Vestry
Position to begin as soon as feasible
