Sunday School and Nursery Care for Children

(Toddlers through 6th Grade)

Sunday School

We have Sunday School for children from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade the first three Sundays of each month and on any 5th Sunday.  We also have a family service on each 4th Sunday of the month, when children aged 6 years and up remain in the sanctuary with their family to participate and learn more about our worship service.

All children participating in Sunday school or nursery care should come directly to the Multipurpose Room or Nursery on Sunday mornings. These programs all begin at 10:00 a.m.  We encourage parents to escort their children to the classrooms on Sunday morning, and children can arrive as early as 9:45.  Children will remain in Sunday School until about 11:10, when Sunday School students will be escorted to the sanctuary after the Prayers of the People to join their families for the remainder of the service.

Nursery Care

We have nursery care for children who are still considered infants (that is, at least 9 months old) through 5 years of age.  Parents must sign their children into the Nursery, which opens at 9:45 a.m. to receive children and remains open until the end of the service for the convenience of those parents who are serving that day.  With parents’ permission, teachers will escort children in nursery care to the sanctuary to participate in Communion with their family.

About Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry at Church of the Apostles partners with parents to help children know Jesus, love Jesus, serve Jesus, and share Jesus.

Melissa Ciavarella is our interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator. She oversees the Sunday School program, plans and oversees exciting summer programs for children, and trains up teens to minister to the children through these programs.

During the summer, we have several programs for children, such as Vacation Bible School and Summer Camp. Through these programs, the children are taught Bible lessons in fun and creative ways, are encouraged in their friendships, and are mentored by older teens who help with the program.

We recognize the tremendous trust you place in a church to help you guide your children in their faith. We are committed to providing a safe environment with trained leaders and programs that are biblically based and filled with fun.
