When we say that we are a "Life-Affirming Church," what do we mean? While it includes our stance related to abortion, it extends far beyond it, to how we view the person sitting next to us and how we see the world. On this Sanctity of Life Sunday, we will consider Jesus' act of receiving the rite of baptism from John. In His baptism, Jesus declares that the life of every human being is worth serving and saving.

In today's Gospel reading, news comes to Jerusalem that her long-awaited Savior has arrived! But though He is only 6 miles away, the people of the city can't be bothered. On this first Sunday of the new year, we are challenged to make Jesus our first priority in 2026.
